"Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind" by Shunryu Suzuki
book review by Riley Burnham 3/12/2024
well, good -- short & direct
this takes us into the primary teaching of Zen Buddhism, which is functionally about accepting our interconnectedness w/ the transient, ever-changing world
he elaborates that to grasp or name such functions is tentative at best, as the only way to attain nirvana, or buddhahood, is to practice -- he gives positions & techniques for doing so
there are analogies of unities of beings, such as large bodies of water vs that separated in a bucket -- that we are ultimately all things in some regard
seems acceptance & living in the present moment are key here
