"Walden" by Henry David Thoreau
book review by Riley Burnham 3/6/2024
really good(!) i liked it a lot
tried a couple versions before settling here, which i liked
quite a simple, tho introspective book, this takes us to a cabin near a lake, surrounded by nature & fairly remote/secluded
i thoroughly enjoy these kinds of books [think: Dick Proenneke & similar works] -- & figure Walden is likely an archetype at this point -- what we learn doing such things
we're walked through loneliness [he inspiringly describes nature communicating w/ him & lifting his spirits; thus banishing the memory of city-life] -- he talks of wildlife; eating; fishing; water; travelers/visitors; & more
a pensive book; well worth the while
