i liked this one(!!)
a simple book, elucidating the parallels Christianity shared w/ other religions, & as the title suggests, the previous templates for a crucified savior
Graves compared Jesus to Krishna, Buddha, Confucius, & many more; before skewering many of the doctrines Jesus taught & much of the ins-&-outs of religious culture
by the conclusion, we're told Christianity came out of Buddhism & the Essenes, by way of India first & spreading from there
he points a big finger at the contradictions throughout the Christian narrative, & logically points out the absurdity of God being his Son & flesh [& how silly the dialogues are w/ this in mind]
he shows that Jesus's teachings fall short of modern rationality, & expresses issues w/ repentance [especially the death-bed kind]
we're left w/ the impression that the edifice of Christianity is a sham, more or less, w/ it's foundations being shallow & its teaching being rife w/ contradictions & stupidity
so there's that
