"The Beginner's Guide to Shamanic Journeying" by Sandra Ingerman
book review by Riley Burnham 2/25/2023
so so so good [audiobook wonderful]
this one is short & oh so sweet: giving us the tools & the backdrop [& the drumming, whistles, & rattling for the finale ending]
we are instructed how to journey through our mind's eye to the upper, lower, or middle worlds & meet a power animal or guide
i chose to go to the upper [i'll share this trip respectfully, although she notes that calling oneself a shaman is likely boasting], which i ascended to via a pulley-like rope [grab on]
i met a Tiger at a council, who sort of showed me around [we stayed at the council, lol]
it was friendly; i asked questions, & received a mirror, which i knowingly chose [was fresh on the mind from the book; means reflection]
i asked some questions [maybe a bit too many...] until i began shamefully reflecting, & allowed silence, thinking about a sort of companioned meditation -- this was good
knowing the ~10 minutes of drum time was nearly up, i thanked the Tiger man for allowing me there, asked if i could return/be welcomed back; then waved as i descended back down the rope system; into the drum ending sequence; back to reality
