"On the Road" by Jack Kerouac
book review by Riley Burnham 10/31/2022
i liked this one -- a classic
by the end, i'm reminded of Hunter S. Thompson & his style, which seems like a continuation of Kerouac's prose
this is a story of driving around/across America in the 1940s, from hitchhiking to stolen cars to running errands -- w/ jazz, drugs, booze, women, bouts of insanity... quite fun
this is free-spirited, searching, philosophical... a bite of a time-passed; a view of a world nearly gone...
they venture to Mexico; the 1950s arrive
less of a metamorphosis & more of a story; of camaraderie; experience & adventure
