"Koran" by Mohammed Marmaduke Pickthall
book review by Riley Burnham 10/23/2023
must proceed w/ a bit of caution & care here...
i'm still reading my physical copy of the Qur'an, which i truly love -- tho was taken aback when reading the portions about Muslims [necessarily] killing pagans... i suppose cultural context is called for here
ultimately, this book [the audio version is read by a cast in this case, from many countries] is a lot of doom & gloom w/ an equal measure of 'Allah is merciful; most gracious;' which leaves a sort of dichotomy...
i like the portions about prophecy; about explanation of past prophets & scriptures... i like a lot of what is said here, & regard this book w/ some esteem
the Qur'an also says the mountains will be removed & Earth will lay flat, which as a flat-Earther, sounds right -- ha(!) [it's flat]
so... i consider this audiobook an intro to the Qur'an, tho a paltry version in some regard
sort of a note: it's neat how the Arabic is often sung; as is Latin verse apparently
that said, God is +
