"Holy Bible in Audio" narrated by David Cochran Heath
book review by Riley Burnham 7/27/2022
extremely good (audiobook) reading; very well done
i listened at 1.9x speed & finished within a few weeks (went smoothly)
seems a lot of themes recur, such as:
[i gather this to be mythology]
god commands; the characters conquer a people; animals are sacrificed; repeat again & again lol
gets old actually [thankfully i could tune a lot of it out as the same themes circled again & again]
i assume there is some meaning behind the symbols here: & likely some very good wisdom, although probably dated to a modern reader
the language of the King James Version gets pretty understandable, & almost preferred in some sense
ultimately it was nice to become familiar; the muddiness of translations of these books [it's a library in fact] lends to some extra confusion; imagining reading & comprehending the Hebrew may proffer different meanings
nearing the end of the book, i came upon commentaries describing Jesus as the SUN of god, which i like; considering it's almost certainly mythology [or primarily]; which relates the 12 disciples to the 12 zodiac constellations, etc.
i consider the Old Testament as a license to conquer
i consider the New Testament as more or less confusion to many [truth is ___], & the character of Jesus to be a misconstruence of other concepts
so that's my takeaway: pretty good book (long, hehehe) & full of a blend of some history & a lot of mythology, w/ the protagonists (Jews basically) to be the heroes of their own story, which ultimately pisses on most other people
i was impressed by the prevalence of YHVH (i say "yehova") in these stories: he's like a central character for much of the book -- shadowy & concealed, though demanding
i liken YHVH as an annoying fag, to put it bluntly
mythology is one of my favorite subjects, which this clearly is
amen, hehehe
