"God Has a Name" by John Mark Comer
book review by Riley Burnham 2/8/2024
good stuff(!!)
great stuff, actually
my third [so far] of Comer's books, this gives us a clear-eyed, practical discussion of God, Yahweh, & his methods & behaviors as revealed by scripture & through our observable, daily lives 🙏
i tend to thoroughly enjoy preacher's books like these [specifically their books it seems], & Comer's becoming one of my favs
he talks about God's love [& how it's often shown, in mercy & compassion], his wrath [against sin, or distrusting him, which can be something like abandonment/left to one's own devices & desires], & what forgiveness & repentance often look like -- even when the damage remains from our choices [think: marital infidelity]
this even touches on the notion of sickness, harm to children, & the myriad of other calamities that befall us -- & how we can reconcile God's love w/ perspective
