"Cinderella, Rumpelstiltskin, and Other Stories" by Jacob & Willhelm Grimm & Charles Perrault
book review by Riley Burnham 8/28/2023
really good(!) actually
these are *classic* tales, & there're many more inside than the cover lists [Snow White, Frog Prince, Rapunzel, etc...]
the sort of prevailing theme to these is that they contain morals & a lot of fairies, dwarves, giants, kings, forests...
we get Little Red Riding Hood & her grandmother both being devoured, w/ the lesson that sweet words mask the sharpest teeth; we get Cinderslut(!) AKA Cinderella, which according to research is derived from an even older tale, involving Egypt & Pharaoh & a slipper being stolen by an eagle, etc...
Hansel & Gretel beat the witch, who herself is burned in the oven...
good stuff; worth affirming
