read by John, this is a fun & fantastic story of hitchhiking from Baltimore to San Fran; featuring first fictional good rides & bad rides [took me awhile to realize this was fantasy, lol] & concluding w/ the real deal

takeaways: most people are kind & friendly, helpful, etc.; & that most are also hesitant to pick up homeless/beggars

many recognized him [lots drew blanks as well]

his fantasy stories are genuinely humorous & set up the finale [real excursion] well

ultimately, it makes me reconsider hitchhiking across the country as a potential fun & worthwhile endeavor

also, i need to watch more Waters movies...
